Award-winning actor Wiseman Mncube and renowned actress Lorraine Moropa are set to star in the much anticipated biographical mini-series, Life of Mandoza.
The series revolves around the life of Kwaito sensation Mandoza, and it will detail his personal life, following the events up until his untimely death in 2016.
Born Mduduzi Edmund Tshabalala, the kwaito legend was known for his numerous hit singles, such as “Nkalakatha” and “Godoba”. With a professional career that spanned over 10 years, the musical sensation was loved by many, regardless of race or social class.
On 18 September 2016, the South African icon passed away due to severe pharyngeal cancer, which had caused him to go blind as a result of the cancer spreading to his brain.
According to ZiMoja, former The Queen actress Lorraine Moropa was asked to audition for the role of Mpho Tshabalala and nailed it splendidly. With some reports claiming that Mpho was excited by the news that Lorraine would be playing her.
Lorraine’s role will further delve into the complexities of Mpho’s life, from dealing with Mandoza’s girlfriend drama to coping with his newfound fame to learning to talk and walk again after having endured a stroke.
Wiseman Mncube, best known for his roles in television series such as Uzalo and Gold Diggers, will star opposite Lorraine in this thrilling drama in the titular role of Mandoza.
The shooting for the biopic drama series is said to have ended last Sunday, with it set to premiere sometime in the near future on BET Africa.
