Comedian Loyiso Gola got serious on social media after sharing his criticism of the former president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, calling his nine-year tenure “disastrous.” However, Loyiso’s comment did not sit well with many social media users.
The former African National Congress (ANC) president, who served between the years 2009 and 2018, recently announced that he was withdrawing his support from the Cyril Ramaphosa-led ANC in the 2024 national elections while sharing the news of the birth of his political party, uMkhonto Wesizwe.
“We need to nurse the ANC and bring it back to the organisation that we know, trust and love. This requires drastic action,” said the 81-year-old controversial politician.
Many took to their social media timelines to give their opinion on the former President’s announcement, including Loyiso. He said on X (formerly Twitter):
“Jacob Zuma’s tenure as ANC president was disastrous. Multiple breakaways, weaker Youth League, weaker COSATU, weaker Women’s League, now he wants to tell us he won’t vote ANC. You made the bed… sleep on it.”

The comedian’s opinion was met with hostility by some X users who questioned why Loyiso was not criticising the ANC leadership under the current president.
Are they stronger under Ramaphosa ?
