The return of the 2024 academic school year has been a bittersweet moment for the mother of late rapper Kiernan Forbes.
Lynn, who is the proud grandmother to his daughter Kairo, shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram page thanking Kiernan for his spiritual presence on Kairo’s first day back.
“I know you were there with me when I took her to school for her first day of Grade 3. You stayed with her all day, until I picked her up. You were there with me doing the same on day 2 and you sat with me through the parent info session last night.”

According to Lynn, Kiernan, who is known by his stage name ‘AKA,’ was excited for the day his princess reached Grade 3.
Meanwhile, this will be the first time that Kairo not only enters the school year without her dad, but also celebrates his birthday without him.
As in the case of most schools, there are always certain activities that happen throughout the year where parents and children can enjoy all the activities that the school has to offer.
Lynn, who attended one of the parent meetings, shared that it broke her heart to find that they Kairo would not be experiencing these activities with her dad.
“It broke my heart when they spoke about the dad and daughter robotics days coming up this year. I remember you being very excited about her getting to Grade 3 so you can do this with her.
“She notices you in the butterflies and in the clouds when they open up and she knows that you’re with her,” she wrote.
Lynn then recalled how the family celebrated AKA’s 35th birthday in January last year, writing:
“Yesterday, she talked about your upcoming birthday and we reminisced about the cake she baked for you last year and how you almost started a fire lighting all of those 35 candles. You are always with us and we love you so much.”
