
What seems to be the inevitable entertainer’s curse has struck veteran actress Nandi Nyembe as it is revealed that she is currently facing immense health and financial challenges. She has taken to social media to plead for assistance from the public.
Although her acting career spans all the way back to around 1987, it is shows such as Soul City, Yizo Yizo and Zone 14 that propelled the talented Nandi Nyembe to fame, and she ultimately enjoyed a long and illustrious career in mzansi’s entertainment industry. Her roles as Sister Lizzie, Lily, and Nandi Sibiya were the foundation for her becoming a household name and one of the more favoured faces.
As the years have gone by, the harsh realities of the insecurity and instability of the entertainment industry when it comes to provident, pension or retirement annuity funds. Due to the nature of the industry, many entertainers have fallen victim to finding themselves without a financial plan of how to sustain themselves, especially into retirement age.
Recently, it has been revealed that Ma’am Nandi has become the next prominent figure to fall victim to this unfortunate circumstance. Taking to social media, the veteran actress revealed that not only is her health deteriorating, as she has become wheelchair bound, but she is also facing immense financial strain, as she recently spent a substantial amount of her fortune in efforts to get her son, who fell ill, back to life.
Nandi reveals that with no medical aid, it has become difficult for her to seek the medical assistance she requires and has appealed to the public to help in any way they can.

Her case has found its’ way across various social media platforms, and users have expressed immense heartbreak and sympathy for Ma’am Nandi. They reveal that they would be more than willing to help the veteran actress ou in her time of need, sas her contributions to the industry can not be stated enough.

Conversely, other users voice their concern and scepticism over the matter. These users question the nature of the industry, and inquire whether it is the recklessness of the industry or whether the entertainers are the ones to blame.
“I feel so sorry for her, but guys there’s something I don’t understand, these celebrities they earn so much from acting, they make lots of money that we the poor don’t even smell, but when life show them flames they come to us to donate for them because they know that we love them, but it’s not fair serious, they waste their money, buying expensive clothes and stuff but why don’t they save money for time like this? Why don’t they open policies? Yho, it’s really sad, but I hope she’ll get help,” one Facebook user says.
