South African songwriter and rapper Tokelo Moyakhe professionally known as Maglrea Doe Boy has announced that his short film is set to drop during the week.
The 30-year-old artist is known for making great music and killing features in all music genres. He took to Instagram to share a series of pictures which showed snippets from the time he was shooting the film.
In his caption, he wrote that his grandfather raised him on a farm, “My grandfather raised my father on a farm, a farm where they worked for a farmer who ended up kicking them off the land.”
“He had cows he raised over the years that belonged to him. But in the times of apartheid black people were not allowed to move with any cattle from one place to another,” he added.
He also said that when he sat with his uncles and they often told him stories, “This led to a very poor family in a very poor time for people of colour. When I sit with my uncles, they tell me stories of being shot in their stomachs stealing cows. A practice even my father is very familiar with.”
“This next piece of art is dedicated to that side of my family affected by the South African Diaspora. POVO-A short film I did in Mozambique amongst some very talented people,” he concluded his caption.
