Makhadzi responds to SAMA’s ‘sabotage’

The biggest night for music took place this past weekend. The 28th annual South African Music Awards had some of the most anticipated artists set to perform, Makhadzi being one of them.

The Limpopo born star and Magear hitmaker was the most waited star set to perform at the awards. The singer’s set had technical difficulties, however she still managed to power through and give a great perfomance.

Following her set, Makhadzi took to twitter in a series of now deleted posts to express her dismay about the incidents that occured.

‘People must say I don’t know English but, I know the meaning of rehearsal is to make everything to be perfect before the due date of the show. But to me a rehearsal was to make me feel like I don’t deserve to be in the industry. And I don’t deserve the love I get from my fans.’

She continued to say ‘ I rehearsed with a cellphone at the stage to get my choreography. I asked to rehearse with a the camera guys so that they can read my moves but no one listened. I asked for smoke and fireworks, they promised but never delivered’

She ended her tweet with ‘But I remain a queen’

The singer took home an award for the video of the year catergory for her song Ghanama ft Prince Benza

Twitter users came to Makhadzi’s defense, echoing that the SAMA’s had not only snubbed Makhadzi but they had also sabotaged her performance.
