Award-winning singer Makhadzi has once again been accused of missing a booked gig and now she has to – quite literally – pay for it.
Real name Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, Makhadzi was booked to perform on 24 December at three events in Mpumalanga – Ekus Cafe, Mdhluli Outlets in Nelspruit and Quiet Vibes in Bushbuckridge, reports ZiMoja. For two of the gigs, the singer charged R50,000. For the third, she charged R35,000 and requested eight rooms to be booked.
“We went overboard to make sure that the people of Mpumalanga get to see Makhadzi performing this side since she has a huge following. She let us down, this is despite us making sure that we met her demands,” said event organiser Mfundo ‘Thonsi’ Mathonsi to the above-mentioned publication. “We went all out, and all of our events were sold out. We even asked that since she never made it on the 24th, she must come on the 27th. She also failed to come through.”
An associate of Thonsi also shared that there is proof that Makhadzi was booked, while ZiMoja reports that they are in possession of slips showing that money was paid into an account belonging to Makhadzi Entertainment. The publication further states that they are also in possession of WhatsApp conversations between Thonsi and Makhadzi’s manager Maphuthi Perez, where there are promises to refund them on Tuesday.
Although Makhadzi has allegedly paid back R50,000 through Maphuthi, she still needs to settle the full amount.
