Not too long after Brenda Ngxoli united the nation in donating her out of a sticky situation, Limpopo-born singer Makhadzi continued the spirit of giving by initiating a campaign targeting students needing assistance with registration fees.
The concept of ‘ubuntu’ has been one of the main pillars upon which many South African cultures have been built. This has been evident on many occasions where citizens have rallied behind those in need to assist in any way needed, whether it is financial support or otherwise.
Recently, much-loved media personality Brenda Ngxoli took to her social media to reveal her heart-wrenching situation regarding her family dynamics, triggering a nationwide campaign dedicated to uplifting and empowering the actress.
Continuing this momentum, Lekompo singer Makhadzi wants in on the party as she has taken to her social media to reveal that she will offer a helping hand to 20 students in need of assistance with registration fees.
“Are you a student struggling to register for the 2025 academic year? I would like to assist 20 students by covering their registration fees!” Makhadzi says as she explains how eligible students can be added for consideration.

If you need help, follow these steps:
✅ Send your proof of acceptance & a short motivation explaining your situation.
✅ WhatsApp…— Makhadzi (@MakhadziSA) January 29, 2025
According to the ‘Ghanama’ hitmaker, her call has garnered an overwhelming response, revealing a harsh reality of education becoming more and more inaccessible in South Africa, particularly for the lower and middle class. In an update, she urges students to make use of her email address, as the WhatsApp that she had provided earlier has stopped working due to the influx of messages from students.
Although an extremely thoughtful and commendable gesture from one of Mzansi’s much-loved artists, her initiative has turned a few heads as internet users reminisce on how the singer made headlines for her own financial woes not too long ago. These users encourage the singer to rather focus on managing her finances better before jumping to assist others.

Other users have called Makhadzi out for requiring the students to be motivated as to why they should be chosen as recipients of her assistance. According to these users, the proof of registration that the students were instructed to include should serve as enough motivation for the artist.
Why write motivational letters? Charity begins at home …
Surely u know one or two struggling students from your hood .help them and stop with this nonsense of motivational letters— Tlou (@MorwaNurse) January 29, 2025
Some users are a bit sceptical of Makhadzi and other prominent figures who have done something similar to the Pearl Thusi saga, where she promised to pay off a student’s fees and did not fulfil her promises constantly rings in their heads.
