Congratulatory messages are pouring in for the Limpopo-born, multi-award-winning artist, Makhadzi, after digital music service Spotify – through Spotify Wrapped – announced that the singer was the most-streamed South African female artist.
Spotify Wrapped is a campaign that allows Spotify users to view a compilation of data about their activity on the platform over the past year and invites them to share it on social media.
Makhadzi without a doubt took to social media to share her achievement – a total of 23 milloin streams in 183 countries for the year. She wrote:

Makhadzi has done a lot musically this year. After announcing in early May that she would be leaving her former record label, Open Mic Productions, to form her own, called Makhadzi Entertainment, the star has released an album titled Mbofholowo which was well-received by music lovers.
The talented musician also received a nod from Spotify in September after she was named as the music platform’s Equal Africa Ambassador, while also appearing on a billboard in Times Square, New York.
