Mama Joy, in Mamelaodi Sundowns gear? Internet slam the Royal AM supporter

by Sergio Miller

Mama Joy’s loyalty towards Royal AM is now being questioned after she was recently spotted supporting rival team Mamelodi Sundowns.

It is often said that where there is smoke, there is fire and social media users are now on a mission to get to the root of that fire. This weekend football fanatics were left stunned after pictures emerged that showed the sports superfan supporting Tshwane-based team Mamelodi Sundowns in their recent PSL match against Orlando Pirates.

In a video, she is spotted in the front row of the crowd while holding up a sign which reads, “At downs (short for Sundowns), we believe”.

Other pictures later show her excitedly celebrating with the crowd after the final whistle was blown.

When it comes to football, Joy has made it no secret that her loyalty lies with Royal AM, and despite the club now being under curatorship, as a result of tax affairs involving its owner Shawn Mkhize, she has previously highlighted that she will remain the club’s biggest supporter.

In an interview with sports publication KickOff, she previously said: “I didn’t start following the club for money, I wanted change. People might claim the custard is finished at Royal AM, but I won’t go back to Pirates. I am still 100% committed to Thwihli Thwahla.”

However, the recent emergence of pictures of her switching allegiance has caused social media users to believe that she is doing it for money and opportunities as the club has recently qualified for the Fifa Club World Cup which will be hosted in the United States.

I think it’s clear that Joy does this for the bag, not for the love of the gain

Others have been more than happy to have her supporting their team.

Can we announce you as our supporter?😀
