I still do not understand how people who have been arrested can access free education but not people on the outside who actually need free education.
A man from Cape Town has been reported to have broken into Pollsmoor Maximum Prison to access free education and hang out with his friends who are inmates. The 32-year-old man has been doing this for two full years without being noticed.
He shared that his goal was to not only get education but vocational training and the best skills development program in the country. This was only known when the now qualified engineer revealed his double life secret, with CCTV confirming the revelation, prison officials were left speechless.
As called by social media, Professor Break-in explained his plan, saying he could not afford university fees, and he heard that inmates get free courses. “So, I thought, let me do night classes inside. It was surprisingly easy, I even got into advanced engineering without an entrance exam. And guess what? No student debt,” he said.
Sharing and admitting that education was not only his motivation, but he also said he would sometimes go in just to hang out with his friends,” A lot of my old mates ended up here. Life outside was tough, but inside, they had free meals, good company, and game nights. Sometimes I just needed a break, you know?”
Whilst officials were questioned about how this happened, they explained that they are only trained to stop people from breaking out not sneaking in.
