AKA’s team has revealed his fourth studio album, Mass Country, has been certified gold just under two weeks since its release on February 24.
The news comes after the late rapper joined a handful of South African artists in breaking the one million monthly listeners mark on Spotify earlier this week.
“All love to The Megacy and the King of Music…#SupaMega #MassCountryGoesGold,” shared Raphael Benza, the head of South African independent record label, Vth Season, which is AKA’s long-time musical release partner.

According to TshisaLIVE AKA’s business partner Raphael Benza told the publication that a certified plaque would be presented soon after the album achieved more than 16-million streams.
“It’s a bittersweet moment to announce AKA latest musical masterpiece Mass Country is certified gold with more than 16-million streams. A certified plaque will be presented soon. This is no small task for a South African artist. Kiernan Forbes is definitely happy and looking down on us with joy that we all keep making his wishes come true,” he told the publication.
With the Forbes family’s blessings, AKA’s team continued with aspects of the planned roll-out for the album after his untimely death a few weeks ago.
The Hip-Hop sensation was killed on the 10th of February 2023, outside a popular restaurant called Wish on Florida Road in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal along with his friend, Tebello Motsoane, an entrepreneur and celebrity chef.
