It is not every day that you meet an eight-year-old who makes hundreds of people dance through deejaying at big events.
DJ Jozie, real name Rethabile Hlongwane, is the youngest female deejay in the country and the younger sister to former South Africa’s Got Talent winner (who was then the youngest deejay in mzansi) Oratilwe “DJ Arch” Hlongwane.
The deejaying career is not an easy task, as there have been videos on social media showing how difficult it can be for some.
Both sensational young deejays got their love of music from their father who is also a deejay and music lover.
In an interview shared by Daily Sun, Glen, the father to the two deejays, shared that DJ Jozie started showing interest in deejaying back in 2019 when her older brother DJ Arch would be practising. He went on to add that they wanted to see if the love for deejaying wasn’t just a phase as kids sometimes outgrow the things they like.
He finished off by encouraging parents to have an open mind about their children’s careers, adding that it was ok to want them to achieve in their subjects, but also noted that it was important to nurture talent too.
Fast forward to 2024, according to the growth in her social media and shared videos, DJ Jozie is getting better and is mastering her skill by the day. This primary school learner also has a huge following on social media, with 190,000 followers on Facebook and 149,000 followers on Instagram.
