South Africans will have to bid farewell to Bonko Khoza and welcome Wiseman Mncube as the new ‘Mqhele’ on hit series The Wife after Showmax announced that Khoza will not be reprising his role in season 3.
In an interview with DRUM, Bonko mentioned how working on The Wife allowed him to work with industry greats.
Fans flooded social media and expressed how much they’ll miss Khoza in his portrayal of Mqhele. Mncube, however, has assured fans that he’s not here to replace him.
In a press statement that was released, he said ‘What actor wouldn’t want to be part of The Wife?’
‘Mqhele is a very interesting role, and I’m in my element: there’s a lot to chew on and play off, from the love story to the anger to the care.’
So as Wiseman Mncube is about to enter this new role, here’s what we know about the new ‘Mqhele’
- The Actor was born in Durban
- The actor gained popularity for his role as Jama in the hit telenova eHostela, joined Uzalo as villianous Sibonelo.
- The actor has won many accolades, winning best production and best script awards as a playwright for the Weeping Candle, as well as Three Nation Arts festival awards to name a few.
- Besides him being a decorated actor, Ncube is also a singer. He released his song Pick and Choose alongside Vukani Khoza
- The actor is a widow, although not much is know about his late wife, she unfortunately passed in 2017.
