Meghan Markel opened up about being labelled as difficult by the media and royal ‘insiders,’ close to the royal family who alleged she was a ‘bully.’
During her Spotify podcast Archetypes the Duchess Of Sussex spoke with Insecure creator and star Issa Rae about the archetypes of the “angry Black woman.” Admitting that she’s “particular” when “walking into a room,” the former Suite star further explained, “I think a high tide raises all ships, right?”
“We’re all going to succeed. So let’s make sure it’s really great because it’s a shared success for everybody,” Meghan added.
In recent years, Meghan has been accused of bullying the royal staff before she and husband Prince Harry step down from their royal duties as royal senior members. Which lead to the couple leaving the monarchy and moving to America.
The Duchess also admitted to feeling insecure about sharing her opinions
“I would find myself cowering and tiptoeing in a room where, I don’t know, if you do that thing I find the most embarrassing. When you’re saying a sentence but the intonation goes up like a question,” she asked Rae.
Harry and Meghan met through a mutual friend who set them up on a blind date at Soho Houses Dean Street Townhouse.
During the pair’s first sit down-interview as a couple, Meghan told BBC in 2017 that she didn’t know much about the prince or the royal family before the date with Harry.
“Because I’m from the States, you don’t grow up with the same understanding of the royal family,” she said.
“I didn’t know much about him, so the only thing that I had asked [our mutual friend] when she said that she wanted to set us up, was, ‘Well, is he nice?’ Cause if he wasn’t kind, it just didn’t seem like it would make sense.”
In an interview with James Corden on The Late Late Show with James Corden in February 2021, Harry recalled how serious the pair got within their first two months of dating.
“The second date I was starting to think: This is pretty special,”Harry told the host.
