Congratulations are in order for Mia Le Roux as she was officially crowned as Miss SA 2024. As a member of the hard-of-hearing community, Mia has broken boundaries and after a rollercoaster of a journey, Mia will don the Mowana crown which debuted last year.
Her mission statement highlights the need for those who are inherently included to consciously create inclusive environments for those who are excluded in society, whether it be financial exclusion or exclusions that are created by being differently abled. Furthermore, Mia emphasises the need to use a platform as big as Miss SA to push her agenda for inclusion.
“Thanks to the Miss SA organisation I have a foot in the world of the included, and I want to build a bridge between the two worlds,” the new Miss SA said.

The 66th edition of the pageant was a night to remember as the SunBet Arena looked ethereal and was a stage fit for a queen. It was filled to the brim with A-list celebrities and supporters dressed to the nines, ready to witness this monumental occasion. ‘Crown Chasers’ presenter and former Miss SA Natasha Joubert was also in attendance, she handed over her crown and passed the baton over to the new queen in town.
Representing the community of Oudtshoorn, Mia’s authentic nature shone throughout the competition, securing her the ultimate prize. Besides the R1 million cash prize, other prizes include a Mercedes Benz CLE coupe and a luxurious apartment in Brookfield at Royal during the year of her reign. Sun International will ensure that the new queen has a home away from home during her travels.
Although the competition was extremely tight from the moment the top 10 was announced, Mia separated herself from the rest during the quick-fire round with her genuine and powerful response to the question, after shining through the swimwear and evening wear rounds.

“This is such an incredible life-changing opportunity, to wear the crown of Miss SA and the duty is one to be taken seriously. Write your own chapter, find your own voice, walk your own path and fulfil your own destiny as Miss South Africa, and don’t forget to have fun,” says former Miss SA 1993 Basetsana Khumalo.
Although the crown itself is heavy, as it is made of diamonds, gemstones and cubic zirconia, the responsibility of the crown is heavier, however, there is no doubt that mzansi’s newest ambassador will wear it with grace.
