Isencane Lengane which airs on Moja Love has sparked debates since its inception, from children marrying at a young age, to abuse allegations and vulgar language.
The controversial show that follows the young married couple, Siyacela Dlamuka and his wife Thando Dlamuka recently left online users stunned with incidents, such as Dlamuka’s wives telling Thando that a man doesn’t apologise, Thando’s mother; Ntombikayise Msomi causing havoc with swearing at her son-in-law at the Dlamuka homestead.
With the uproar on social media and internet users calling for the cancellation of the show, Moja Love spokesperson, Nonzwakazi Cekete defended the show and said, it relates to everyday challenges.
“It may be provocative; however, it’s important for such a show to be aired as it showcases the everyday realities of Gender Based Violence (GBV), cultural intolerance, and provides an opportunity for debate.
“While the channel respects viewers on social media and the criticism in line with the right to freedom of expression as enshrined in the constitution, the channel believes the show contributes to the discourse relating to everyday challenges not only facing Thando but women who do not have a voice nor their struggles shown on television,” she told Daily Sun.
