After years of persistent pleading and petitioning, the Molefi family has finally secured their much-deserved payout from the financial services group Old Mutual, bringing them a deep sigh of relief.
Earlier this year the renowned financial services company found itself in hot water after an X (formerly Twitter) user took to the social media platform to express her disappointment in the company after they “refused” to grant her mother her longly-awaited pension fund.
At the time the user whose real name is Sebabatso Molefi wrote: “Dear @ OldMutual please advise why you are refusing to release my mother’s money even though a court order has been provided. You are in contempt of court, and I am about to lose my cool right now.”
The tweet was one that spread like wildfire, leaving many users including Grammy Award winning artist Zakes Bantwini to share his distasteful experience with Old Mutual.
It was reported by The South African that Sebabatso’s mom invested around R3 million into the company.
With the Old Mutual then becoming subject to public scrutiny they later released a statement revealing that the Molefi family’s matter was sensitive but that they were working with relevant parties to resolve the matter.
In a recent tweet, Sebabatso revealed that her mother has now finally got her long-awaited payout.
Attached to the proof of payment, she wrote: “ What should’ve been done almost eleven months ago has finally been done.
“Thank you, South Africa. Mama has received every single cent owed to her.”
