Dubbed as the pioneer of Cape Town Gqom, Mr Thela has taken the local music scene by storm. Branching into a genre that is widely popular in Kwa Zulu Natal, the Cape Town born music producer and DJ, has given new life to a genre that has been on a steady decline across the country.

The social media teasers for the release of ‘Buya Nini’ have amassed a very warm reception from his growing fan base. This track has all the elements of a Gqom track, from the pulsating bassline to the kick drum and chants, yet drawing inspiration from vocal riffs you would typically find in a Maskandi track, sung by the talented vocalist, Peace.

Mr Thela reunites with Peace who first worked with the artist on the popular track ‘My mother’s prayers’ from his second joint album MAKE CAPE TOWN GREAT AGAIN 2.0.
