As of late, South Africa has emerged as a creative and cultural hub, where people from all over the world are pouring into this small country at the bottom of the African continent to experience the rich and diverse culture existing within its borders.
Historically, when hearing the word ‘world tour’, the continent of Africa was often excluded by even the biggest names in the entertainment industry. The tides have turned as more international acts are including more African countries in their schedules.
South Africa is fortunate enough to be one of the more developed countries on the continent, and inevitably when artists consider touring, mzansi is often first on the list. The global impact South African trends have had, also factors greatly into this, such as the emergence of the amapiano genre on the global stage. In recent months, the likes of Tamia, Boys II men, Sarah Jakes-Roberts and Freddie Jackson have toured the country, treating their fans to memorable performances.
Joining the bandwagon is renowned R&B group BLACKstreet, who will be making their debut in mzansi this October, with what promises to be a nostalgic night filled with an amazing performance from the grammy-winning group responsible for many South African memories.

“We are proudly bringing yet another amazing performing act for South Africans to enjoy. We have always set an impeccable tone and standard with our productions, and this tour will be no different. The team is eager and ready to execute unforgettable shows at all mentioned venues”, happily expresses Vertex Events’ Executive Director, Thato Segaole.
In a shocking turn of events, the announcement of the tour left a bitter taste for some South African fans, as some feel as though the ‘No Diggity‘ hit-makers are only choosing to tour the country after they have lost their relevance and impact. With a series of platinum hits, the group has countless tours under their belt, none of which have been on the African continent.
Internet users did not hold their tongues when expressing their disappointment.
Imagine only now? 20 years since they had a hit… they don’t take us seriously. I also saw Dru Hill advertising their concert 😅

I have a severe issue with American artist only adding an African country, or at least SA, to their tour list when they’ve lost relevance https://t.co/a8FtwffZgl
