South African actress and reality TV star Khanyi Mbau has been marked by fans of Netflix’s original hit series Young Famous & African as the “villain” of the show.
In the show, Khanyi is accused of “bullying” fellow cast Bonang Matheba and Luis Munana. She has also been accused of publicly insulting Andile Ncube and Annie Idibia which did not sit well with fans.
However, the Happiness Ever After actress came to her own defence as she clapped back at Netflix’s producers for painting her out to be the “villain” of the show saying:
“The editors are messy and very spicey.. reality TV neh..”
“Sadly the editor made me the villain AGAIN! Editing out pivotal moments that give clarity, and deleting real scenes that shared the visuals of my real world, eg, our children.”
“The cuts and pastes of the scenes and the order is completely wrong and made to fit a certain narrative,” she added.
“I let things slide last season, treated it as show business but my kind nature is setting me up for failure in a very bad way,” she wrote on her Instagram timeline.
Although she was portrayed as a “villain,” the reality TV star has received so much support from her industry friends such as media personality Somizi Mhlongo and now rapper Nadia Nakai.
While speaking to YFM, Bragga publicly defended Khanyi saying:
“Khanyi is a very caring person. She also shoots straight from the hip. She doesn’t sugarcoat anything, and I think sometimes it really ruffles feathers for some people.”
Nadia added: “But honestly, she is just very authentic. And sometimes you have to shout at people.”
Bragga also revealed that watching the season gave her extreme anxiety.
“There was so much drama in every episode, I don’t understand where it was coming from,” said Nadia while speaking to YFM.
