Multi-award-winning actress and motivational speaker Nambitha Mpumlwana recently caused a stir on X (formerly known as Twitter) after she said Lerato Moloi’s rape allegations against Mongezi ‘Tol A$$ Mo’ Mahlangu were not false.
The former Generations star said this in response to a video episode of Cliff Central where media personality Gareth Cliff and Mo agreed that those who falsely accuse others of a crime they didn’t do should be jailed for the same amount of years the accused would have received.
Mo was accused and later acquitted of rape and sexual harassment by model Lerato Moloi, an incident she alleged happened in 2014.
In the interview, Gareth adds:
“I think that if you make false allegations against someone you should be punished to the degree that they would had been punished if they were found guilty.”
Explaining why he said that, Gareth commented that the country already has an alarming rate of real abuse cases, and creating false allegations has a way of shifting us from the real issues and giving a spotlight to the lies. Gareth added that false allegations end up creating doubt for real victims.
Mo responded, saying that as a father of three girls, he would not want them to be doubted if they went to report a matter like that.
Upon seeing the video post shared by user @MeshackBhevula, Nambitha commented:
“Lerato’s allegations were not false. Lerato spoke the truth! Tell that to your 3 daughters!”

X users commented, asking the mother of one how she knows that Lerato was telling the truth.
Were you there as well Ma’am, so you just watched and did nothing?
