Nasty C, the globally recognized hip-hop rapper, just celebrated his 27th birthday.
Despite the usual joy and gratitude that comes with birthdays, it was a mixed feeling for the Strings & Blings hitmaker.
The weekend marked the one-year anniversary of his industry mentor AKA’s death, and his late mother would have celebrated her birthday a day before his.
Taking to his Instagram, he thanked everyone for the birthday wishes, and apologised for not getting back to anyone as the day was rather emotional.
“I had my phone on DND (Do Not Disturb) yesterday so if you called, I didn’t pick up and I didn’t respond to texts, but I want you to know that I really appreciate it and I had a great day.”
“Thank you to those who wished my mom a happy birthday, her birthday was the day before mine, on the 10th of February.”
His mother whose name was Ivy, lost her live while the rapper was just 11 months old. She was killed during a taxi riot that took place. In a 2022 interview with American presenter Saige Jones, Nasty C revealed that the passing of his mother only affected him later in the years.
Speaking on the topic he said:
”It was an emotional rollercoaster, to say the least, and I feel like it will always be that way.”
He added while the 10th of February will always be a tricky day for him, he managed to reach out to his sister who gave him some valuable and sound advice that made a big difference.
“She gave me a solution to heal and deal with other emotions that come with that day and how to process everything around that day. So, 10 February will always be a tricky day for me, but with the love I get from my fans and my family, I can get through it with a positive spirit.”

“Rest in peace to Mama Ivy, and rest in peace to AKA; thank you, guys, so much for the birthday wishes, and also thank you to all the real fans who know that Price City (his mixed tape) was turning 9 years old,” he added.
