In the radio broadcasting world, March determines radio show hosts career paths as contract negotiations are held with broadcasting stations ready to welcome the new circle that starts in April. This is also a time when many radio show hosts leave their broadcasters, while some get shifted to different show slots.
Radio show host and businessman Sphe Ngwenya famously known as DJ Spectacular announced his immediate Metro FM exit. The reason for his exit was not clear, but the deejay penned down an appreciative note as he exited the broadcasting station he has been with for 11.5 years.
In January, Sphe’s partner DJ Naves left their Kings of The Weekend’s Saturday, 19h00 to 22h00 show slot for greener pastures. It is currently unclear whether Sphe will join him or if he is moving elsewhere.
Sharing the news on his social media, he noted:
“Sat 30/03/24 brings an end to my second season on the mighty might @metrofmsa. I’m glad that management understood my immediate plans and we part on good terms yet again.
“Thank you for an incredible 11.5 years to the SABC, MetroFM, listeners, on and off-air colleagues, clients and everybody else I happily interacted with. Thank you all for injecting life into me and my dreams.”
One member of the King of The Weekend went on to thank colleague Wilson B Nkosinathi commenting, “To Mr Wilson B Nkosi, you literally saved my sanity with one text in 2022. I thank you for your unending kindness, Sir.”
Putting the spotlight on his friend and business partner DJ Naives, Spectacular shared, “To @djnaves: My manager, my business partner, my sounding board, my brother and then some. Thank u. For it all. And ummm, I hope you didn’t forget to pack your scuba diving gear this time.”
