The daily drama series Nikiwe which aired on eTV every weekday was canned just after a few months of production, reportedly for suffering low ratings at the end of last year.
It was later reported that cast members were unpaid from December, with some still allegedly unpaid even now. The production company responsible for the drama series Parental Advisory Productions (PAP), is also alleged to have misused finances.
It is now reported that the drama series actors are still awaiting their payments from the company owned by media personalities Lungile Radu and Thomas Gumede.
Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela shared the news on his X, former Twitter adding:
“Payment woes for Nikiwe cast. Months after the eTV telenovela got abruptly canned, the cast and crew are still struggling to get paid. Some have been waiting for payments from as far back as November 2023. The show, produced by Parental Advisory Productions aired its final episode on January 5th 2024. However cast and crew are fuming because the show is being repeated on eTV weeknights at 10 PM and they still have not been paid, almost a year later.”

I am sorry to say but this is why I never want my children to pursue a career in the arts. Even industry veterans are suffering, how much more young people entering the industry?
