Yesterday was the late president Nelson Mandela’s birthday with 2023 being 10 years since his passing. Mzansi’s celebs such as Nomzamo Mbatha took part in the 67 minutes for Mandela Day activities, spreading love, offering their services and giving back to the needy.
The Cotton-on-Foundation ambassador took some time off her busy schedule in order to plough back to the KwaMashu school community. Nomzamo and the @cottononfoundation visited the Dr JL Dube High School in order plant around over a hundred trees at the school.
The school’s principal Mr. Magwaza opened the event by stating that everyone at the school must “never feel at home but be at home.”
Nomzamo shared a video of the event on her Instagram capturing it:
“Mandela Day with @cottononfoundation.”

Speaking of the tree concept, Nomzamo added, “when we are planting trees, we want to say the environment is so important for us.”
She added that during her years in high school, they had a tree that was known as theirs where she and her friends shared their dreams for the future.
Asking the learners to continue taking care of the environment, Nomzamo added:
“You are going to be using these trees to sit under them during lunchtime or when you are waiting for your friends in the morning.”
“You’re going to be creating memories, you’re going to be inspiring each other in the morning and during lunch, asking each other about your dreams for the future. You will always remember those memories but most importantly, you will know that you were part of something that has been good for the planet.”
