Real Housewives of Durban star, Nonku Williams, faces a R2.2 million lawsuit. The reality star has been sued by the TV show production company, Mmadipotwana Media, Sunday World reports.
According to the publication, Mmadipotwana Media is suing the reality star for reputational damage, breach of contract and loss of income after the Real Housewive of Durban star allegedly failed to honour an agreement with the company.
According to Sunday World, Mmadipotwana Media, which is owned by businesswoman Moleboheng Mali, has filed papers in the High Court in Johannesburg, demanding the reality star to pay them R2.2 million.
The reality TV star was allegedly expected to pay an acquisition fee of R150 000 before the delivery of services of the contract on June 30 2022. In addition she was reportedly supposed to pay R55 000 public relations fees from May 30 backdated for three months.
The company said it has done its bit and is responsible for helping create the brand powerhouse she has become, having apparently secured a one year deal with Eyerus App, which is a safety and security app. It also claims to have introduced the reality star to prominent media houses in Nigeria and managed events for her.
Nonku has been open about having endured abuse and helping women who have similar experiences.
The court papers seen by Sunday World read as follows:
“The plaintiff suffered damages estimated to be a total sum of R2 260 000 [two-million, two-hundred and sixty thousand rands] and the plaintiff retains the right to amend her pleadings in due course.
“Despite lawful demands, the defendant refused and or ignored to make the remedial actions herein. In the premises, the defendant is liable to compensate [the] plaintiff total damages suffered.”
