Music executive Nhlamulo Nota Baloyi recently shared a public apology following his insensitive remarks regarding white people.
Nota shared his stance about white people on an episode of The Hustlers Corner SA, which was published on YouTube, where he made several statements expressing his views on white people, such as: “White people are inferior species to us.” “They have Neanderthal blood in them.” “We are dealing with the weakest whites.” “White people are just below human being,” and so on, which prompted the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) to launch an investigation.
Recently, he took to his X (formerly Twitter) page to share his public apology. In the clip shared, he said he wishes to extend his heartfelt apology to anyone who felt hurt or threatened by his words. He vowed to turn this incident into a learning curve for himself and the people who consume his content.
“I believe that through honest dialogue, sincere apologies we can work towards healing and reconciliation. I’m committed to this process and to rebuilding trust,” he said.

After probing the incident, the SAHRC, Nota received a letter of demand and a hefty fine of R150 000. A prima facie violation of the rights to equality and human dignity was found in his insensitive remarks, and he was ordered to revoke all written statements, take part in human rights awareness training, and issue a public apology within 10 days of receiving the letter.
The letter further directed Nota to remove the offensive content and pay R150 000 to an organisation that promotes reconciliation. The letter also stated that if Nota did not reply to the letter within seven days, it would take the matter to the Equality Court.
