Not afraid to speak her mind, poet Ntsiki Mazwai was not about to accept the apology comedian Tol A$$ Mo had issued to black women.
For the past few months, Tol A$$ Mo (born Mongezi Mahlangu) has been hogging the headlines due to his rollercoaster relationship with his wife, Mome Mahlangu. Last year, the comedian announced his separation from the fashion enthusiast on DJ Fresh’s podcast WAW! WHAT A WEEK.
“People grow, we grew apart, we went through so many struggles in our relationship. I was there for her as much as she was there for me,” he shared with the deejay, adding, “I am f*cking traumatised by black women, I’m so traumatised that I don’t want to have a black wife again.”
The couple have since reunited.
In 2018, model and actress Lerato Moloi alleged that the comedian sexually assaulted her while working on a television production in Paarl in the Western Cape, as reported by The Citizen. Tol A$$ Mo was acquitted of the charges in 2022 after facing many years of backlash, losing deals and having to fully rely on Mome for emotional and financial support.
In a recently released statement from Mo, he noted that the false accusation of rape was the onset of the trauma and mental wellness challenges he experienced and the disparaging comments he made about black women.
“I want to make it unequivocally clear that such comments do not reflect my beliefs or values. The person who made those statements was not the person I recognise as myself but rather a manifestation of the illness and disorienting circumstances I was in.”

It was clear that Ntsiki did not accept Mo’s apology.
Commenting on a repost of the apology on X (formerly Twitter) by the publication MDN News, the poet wrote, “This man went around to podcasts LYING about me. And he made people attack me for his LIES. I will never forget.”

Showing support for Ntsiki, an X user commented, “We don’t sue enough in this country. He needs to apologise to you personally. What these men don’t realise is YOU have to live with the smear campaign after they’ve constantly insulted them, and their fans latch onto the bullying.”
Another deemed Mo a narcissist and called the apology fake.
When the rape accusations against Mo were acquitted, this fueled a heated online argument between him and Ntsiki. After an X user stated that no amount of money would compensate Mo for what he went through emotionally, Ntsiki replied, “Let’s wait till you get raped and come back to this tweet.”
According to The South African, Mo then responded that a summons was on the way.
