Orlando Pirates veteran starts new chapter at law school

by Sergio Miller

After numerous setbacks and later being forced into an early retirement, the former Orlando Pirates player Thandani Ntshihumayelo has decided to seek self-improvement by acquiring an education.

Known as the ever-talented Bibo, Thandani was a fan favourite during his days at the numerous clubs he represented.

He was once also part of an Orlando Pirates team that featured a star-studded line-up such as former Manchester United attacking coach Benni McCarthy, Happy Jele and Andile Jali just to name a few.

However, the news publication The South African states that Thandani’s light quickly dimmed after he tested positive for banned substances as well as cocaine.

This ultimately saw him receiving a four-year ban which was appealed and reduced to two years.

The above-mentioned publication adds that after making his return to the game he struggled to be the player he once was, and retired last year. He has However confirmed that he has now been embarking on a new journey, which is to study law.

This was revealed in an interview with football publication, Far Post.

“I went back to school, I’m studying again. I am doing LLB High qualification. I’m studying law now,” he said.

According to the publication, the former footballer is currently studying at the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Earlier this year he found himself in trouble with the law yet again, this came after he was accused of slapping and aggressively grabbing his girlfriend after an altercation with a close friend in February. While he was arrested, he was later released on R1000 bail with the case still ongoing, reveals Daily Sun.

Speaking to Far Post, he however claims that he is in a much better mental space.
