Following Makhadzi’s nasty divorce from Open Mic Productions, a lot of other artists have come forward to sympathise with her.
The Amadoda singer had a breakdown on social media on Saturday, explaining their disputes. She again, tried to appeal to the label after she received an accolade at the Metro FM Awards ceremony, saying that all she wants is her money.
One of the musicians that have come forward with their relationship with Open Mic Productions is Paige, who is well-known for remixing Makhadzi’s song Ghanama in isiZulu. Before her solo career, Paige was part of Open Mic Productions.
She claims that she is currently going through the exact same thing with Open Mic Productions and understands what Makhadzi is going through.
Despite receiving millions of streams for her music, she has not received any money from them.
In 2021, she signed a contract with the record label. She was promised a copy from Open Mic Productions but only received one in 2022, following numerous requests from her and her team.
She further stated that although she only signed a three-page contract, she received a copy of a 17-page contract with all her details and signature forged. The record label came up with plenty of stories to combat her claims but failed to produce the original document.
“Out of fear, we decided to keep quiet because there were threats on my life and that of my management and team,” she said.
Further attempts were made to get Open Mic to comment on the situation, but to no avail. As of now, Open Mic has yet to say anything about these claims.
