As a nation we are all extremely proud of the outstanding effort that the Springboks have put into the Rugby World Cup to ensure that the Webb Ellis Cup remains within our borders.
As we watched the conclusion of Saturday night’s final game, we witnessed the Springboks do their victory walk as they received their gold medals like the deserving champions that they are. The nation has indeed been a living testament of the slogan stronger together as the spirit of ubuntu held us together and united throughout this World Cup.
The president has congratulated the Springboks as they have made history – South Africa reigns as the first nation to beat the record of winning the Rugby World Cup four times.
The Presidency took to X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate the Springboks on their victory.
The Springboks go down in history for having won the Rugby World Cup more than any other nation, but this alone is not what makes this an exceptional triumph. The symbolism of this victory is as significant as the great sporting achievement we have witnessed.… pic.twitter.com/OwtwNu1fQy

The rumours of a public holiday upon the victory of the Springboks began circulating, and many have been pleading with the President to consider this and give South Africans their well-deserved public holida. According to The Citizen, President Ramaphosa had made an indication that he would consider a public holiday if the Springboks were to win the Rugby World Cup 2023.
Vincent Magwenya, spokesperson of the Presidency, took to X to clear all the allegations and fake news that Monday would be a public holiday.
Tomorrow is day 1 of Matric exams, and a public holiday will be very disruptive to their exam schedule. Please ignore fake announcements, got work tomorrow, work hard like a true World Champion, and wait for the President’s address in the evening. #StrongerTogether
