The recent appointment of actress and musician Pearl Thusi at popular radio station has left the internet filled with mixed emotions.
The former Isidingo actress has done quite well for herself after starting her 2024 with a change in her career prospects.
She has now officially added the role of DJ to her already long list of talents, landing several top gigs with just a few weeks into her new adventure.
More recently the proud mom was involved in yet another big announcement. She will be occupying the afternoon slot at Gagasi FM as from the month of April where listeners will be introduced and entertained by her vibrant songs.
Taking social media platforms Pearl confirmed the news saying: “Livestream! Or tune in! So exciting my very first radio mix. God is good!”
While many shared in her joy, others couldn’t help but wonder how much she would be earning for her services, especially since just recently former presenter Penny Ntuli quit her job at the station as they were only able to pay her R2800.
Eager to continue at the station Penny shared that she unfortunately had to decline as the money was not enough to sustain her lifestyle.
Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), many users expressed how happy they were for Pearl, but questioned the radio station, asking whether she will be earning the same amount as Penny was offered.
One user wrote:
So how much are they paying her? R2800 ? I mean she doesn’t have experience

Meanwhile others questioned the integrity of the industry as a whole claiming that it only caters to those in the limelight regardless of their inexperience.
Open up the industry, they were referring to cases like this I mean she started djing last week and other kids have been hard at work and submitting their demos/ mixes but dololo opportunities 🚮🚮
