The renowned South African gospel singer Rebecca Malope has found herself on the wrong side of the internet.
This comes after the singer was recently spotted alongside one of Africa’s most notorious pastors, Shepherd Bushiri.
In a post shared by Bushiri, the Yizwa Nkosi hitmaker was seen visiting the controversial pastor’s church, where she was seen rendering an item in song over the Easter weekend.

These sights appear to have rubbed internet users the wrong way, as many later flooded the comment section calling for her to be boycotted.
In 2021 the Malawian preacher found himself on the wrong side of the law after he was charged with several counts of rape, fraud, money laundering as well as breaching the immigration law.
After being granted bail, he and his wife, Mary, have since fled the country and are currently back in his birth country, Malawi. Meanwhile, the South African justice minister, Mmamoloko Kubayi, says they are waiting on the High Court in Malawi to rule on the extradition judgment of the controversial pastor. He is now said to face additional charges.
“The court granted him bail on the basis that he would not leave the country. They took his passport. The matter of his escape is another subject matter. So, he is not only facing the initial charges, but also must answer how he managed to flee, who helped him, and under what circumstances, given he and his wife had no passports,” says Mmamoloko.
Meanwhile, social media users had this to say on Rebecca’s affiliation with Bushiri:

Rebecca is generally not smart to comprehend what she has done. South Africans should distance themselves from her.

Meanwhile, not everyone was opposed to Rebecca’s appearance, one user later noted:
Bushiri is a fugitive in South Africa, not in Malawi. Rebecca was invited to Malawi for a performance she went there to do her job as a professional musician. There’s no need for judgment; she was simply honoring a booking and getting paid for her talent.
