The multi-award-winning singer Rebecca Malope is still in a state of recovery following her nasty fall on the stage this past weekend.
The prominent gospel singer was one of many people who attended the funeral of the late Zanele Mbokazi-Nkambule’s funeral which was held at the Durban ICC on Saturday.
Zanele who is the founder of the renowned Crown Gospel Awards and Ukhozi FM presenter passed away after battling with lung cancer.
Dressed in a stunning white and black dress and high heels, the singer paid tribute to her late friend while performing Ngiyekeleni. In an unexpected event, she later found herself tripping and falling while still on stage. Many are aware of her tendency to show off a few dance moves during her performances, but many were confused about whether this was part of the act. The video of the incident later trended on social media.

However, the well-respected singer recently had an interview with TshisaLive where she revealed that the fall was not planned.
Speaking to the publication she said: “I couldn’t wear sneakers to the funeral. I had to show respect at Zanele’s funeral. I wore high heels which caused me to trip on stage.”
“The heels made me unstable even standing up, and I was left with a bruised knee and twisted my ankle. Since Saturday I’ve been receiving text messages from friends and family checking up on me. I think I’m getting old and I’m no longer that energetic.”
Meanwhile, she says that she is grateful to have witnessed her friend receiving the send-off she deserved.
“I’ll be looking forward to taking a rest and nursing my knee at home, using ointments to make it better. I thank God I suffered minor injuries.”
