Nothing can amount to the pain of losing a loved one, I know this because I have lost my big brother and best friend in the space of a year.
I don’t even want to imagine how painful it is if you lose a parent. Rethabile Khumalo is a talented South African singer-songwriter who recently wrote a heartfelt message to her mom in heaven.
She is the daughter of renowned singer Winnie Khumalo, who played a significant role in nurturing Rethabile’s love for music.
Winnie Khumalo was a talented South African singer, songwriter, producer, actress, and businesswoman. She began her music career at just 13 years old and released her debut album ‘Hey Laaitie’ at 15.
Winnie was known for her contributions to the Kwaito and Afropop genres, collaborating with iconic South African artists like Brenda Fassie and Sello Chicco Twala. Her music career spanned over three decades, with notable hits like ‘Live My Life’, ‘Phezulu’, and ‘Loluthando’.
Sadly, Winnie Khumalo passed away on January 7, 2025, at the age of 51, after a brief illness. Her legacy continues to inspire and influence the South African music industry.
Grief comes in different forms and when it hits you, all you can do is allow yourself to go through the pain, what a rollercoaster.
Rethabile recently took to her Instagram and shared a video of them together with their resemblance screaming uncanny.
In her caption she expressed how much she missed her, “I miss you so much, mum. But heaven couldn’t wait for you.”
She also revealed that they used to love the filter they used in the video.
