Nonku Williams from “The Real Housewives of Durban” is facing legal action from Peet Viljoen following her allegations of abuse against his wife Melany Viljoen.
The controversy erupted when Nonku made public statements on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip SA which is currently airing on Showmax. These statements allege that Peet abused his wife and insinuated that she was involved in a solitary cult. Nonku also claimed that she believes Peet runs Mel‘s life and is responsible for her decision not to have kids and that his wife idolises him.
These accusations have sparked a legal response from Peet as the Rapport publication reported that Peet has filed a lawsuit demanding R1 million, citing defamation of character.
According to The South African, in their statement sent to the publication, Peet denied the allegations and defended their choice not to have children.
“Mel has literally no family left, nobody to assist should anything happen to me. We are not living in 1955. Women are not worth less when children are not what they desire. I am taken aback by the baby-shaming on the show.”
He further said “As a divorce lawyer I defended women against abusive men for 17 years. I have reapplied to practice law after a court found that I have been wrongfully prosecuted for nearly 15 years. I have five sisters who would have slapped the silly out of me if I had abusive tendencies towards women.”
In response to inquiries, the housewife Nonku has not publicly commented on the pending legal action against her.

In response to comments on Instagram, one user expressed, “Mel has a right to defend herself. If she keeps quiet, people will still demand answers from her. Your name carries your dignity, you have to defend it. Especially when you are in business and you are also a public figure.”
Another user chimed in with encouragement, saying, “Go get them, Mel! You are amazing, you don’t need to explain yourself to anyone.”
While another user showed concern and wrote, “Your constant need to defend yourself may allude to a level of truth to their speculations. People who are constantly defensive have a lot to hide, is it why you’re constantly on the edge?”
