Congratulations to media personality Rorisang Thandekiso who became the very first female to host an edition of the popular game show, Wheel of Fortune.
The show, which was created by the late, American media mogul Merv Griffin, sees contestants compete against each other by solving word puzzles to win cash prizes, which are determined by a spinning wheel.
With the show being produced in over 40 countries, the BONA November 2023 cover star is set to host the South African version.
“I am incredibly honoured to follow in these giant footsteps and be the first Wheel of Fortune South Africa and the lucky person introducing the show to Africa,” says Rorisang, whose impressive resumé spans from entering the industry as a YOTV to establishing herself as an esteemed radio and television personality.
“Rorisang radiates all the attributes required to hold the reins of this world-famous word-quiz game show, says Lala Tuku, Acting Group Head of Video Entertainment at the SABC. “Rori comes with gravitas and years of experience in front of the camera but also embodies a unique mix of sparkle, confidence, and calmness. Furthermore, we’re thrilled to break the mould with a powerful female host. It fits in with SABC’s mission to celebrate diversity and put the spotlight on women.”
Rorisang also took to social media to share the news of her latest gig, which debuted on Monday, 8 April at 19h30 on S3 (formerly known as SABC 3).
An excited Rorisang wrote: “FIRST TIME IN AFRICA! FIRST FEMALE ANCHOR HOST! God has been so kind to me!”
