South African celebrities Pabi Cooper, K.O, and Uncle Waffles looked nothing short of amazing at the 2023 BET Award which took place in Los Angeles, USA.
The prestigious awards ceremony celebrated the 50th anniversary of hip hop music, honouring black and minority entertainers around the world in music, film, sports, and philanthropy.
Paballo Basetsana Mothapo better known as Pabi Cooper was nominated for the Best International Act Viewer’s Choice Award. Speaking to TshisaLIVE she said “This is my first time to attend the BET Awards and I’m looking forward to meeting artists and creatives from all walks of life.”

Soweto-born rapper and producer Ntokozo Mdluli better known as K.O was nominated in the category of Best New International Act. This year was the second time K.O attended the BET Awards — the first being in 2011 with Teargas. “For me, it’s being able to network and mingle with artists and managers as I’m now in the height of launching internationally,” K.O said to TimesLIVE.

Uncle Waffles bagged a nomination from the BET Awards for Best International Act. She lost the BET award to the Nigerian star, Burna Boy. Other nominees in the category included Aya Nakamura, Ayra Starr, Central Cee, Ella Mai, K.O, L7nnon, Stormzy, and Tiakola.
