Singer and songwriter Samkelo Mdolomba, famously known as Samthing Soweto, sets the record straight regarding the Amalanga Awafani song.
Internet users look to put aside the issue of the newly released single which features DJ Maphorisa, Mas Musiq, Lawd Weezy and TO Starquality. The musician reveals something that causes many users to question the integrity behind giving artists what they deserve.
Samthing Soweto took to X (formerly known as Twitter), revealing that he was not featured in the song after it was released. This caused many internet users to boycott the song and report it on all music streaming platforms until they added his name.
This action later caused DJ Maphorisa to do an Instagram Live, where he called out the musician for his tendencies, adding that he gave him everything he needed, but when it came to the song being released, he decided to ‘ghost’ them instead.
As fans of both artists defend their favourites, Samthing Soweto took to X explaining that he was discredited by the people he did the song with after asking about its release date. He also mentioned that DJ Maphorisa had been going around claiming that he was hard to work with.
They use my works without permissions, without contracts or without consent. They just release my works without even informing me of release dates, when I ask what’s happening , they run to social media to discredit me before I can tell the truth.

Protect yourself, hire an agent, manager or lawyer who’ll negotiate on your behalf. You can’t just do everything on your own you’ll get raw deals.

How do you even start working with someone without a formal contract or agreement?
Artist needs to take yaking their work serious from business sense otherwise you will forever play victim.
