Controversial rapper Shebeshxt born Lehlogonolo Chauke, failed to make his court appearance on his scheduled date for his plea and trial in Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court recently.
The Dilo Tse Massive rapper, who is currently on bail was set to appear in court on the 11th of July; where he would face the charge of attempted murder after he had been accused of stabbing a man in Lebowakgomo in 2022. However, he could not attend his pre-trial due to not feeling well and is expected to produce a doctor’s certificate on his following appearance date scheduled for Friday, the 19th of July.
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Limpopo spokesperson confirmed the rapper’s absence in court to Daily Sun.
“Lehlogonolo Chauke, also known as Shebeshxt, was absent in the Lebowakgomo Regional Court for his pre-trial on an attempted murder charge due to illness. The court has postponed the matter to 19 July 2024 to allow him to provide a medical certificate verifying his condition,” she said.
Meanwhile, Shebeshxt’s lawyer and family representative, Lot Ramusi mentioned that the rapper is still recovering from a recent car accident that took the life of his daughter, Onthatile Chuene.
“He is not well and still recuperating. We’re waiting for the doctors to compile his medical records, which will be presented to the court,” said Ramusi.
After the accident, Lot spoke to Sunday World on the rapper’s progress since it happened and said, “He is coming to terms with everything. He was obviously shaken by everything, but he is slowly coming to terms with the situation,” adding that, given that he was still in a state of recovery there was an uncertainty of him attending his court case for charges opened in 2022 where he allegedly stabbed a man.”
