Beauty queen and businesswoman Basetsana ‘Bassie’ Kumalo received wonderful words of encouragement for her injured son from Springboks captain Siya Kolisi.

Bassie’s son, Nkosinathi ‘Nathi’ Kumalo, tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) last year after scoring a goal during his soccer match. Siya had suffered the same injury and a damaged meniscus in April this year while playing for the Sharks during a United Rugby Championship match against Munster, reports TshisaLIVE.

“He [Nathi] was gutted, I was inconsolable. The prognosis was that he will not be able to be back on the sporting field for 10 months, so basically he has not been able to play sports during his matric year,” explained Bassie in her Instagram post’s caption.

She then shared that she asked Siya and his wife, Rachel Kolisi, to send a message of encouragement to her son.

In the video posted, Siya is heard saying, “Stay strong, stay positive and keep on working hard. Lean on your family who love you dearly… You’ll get another opportunity to play again… I’ve been there too, it’s a tough situation, but lean on the ones that love you. Stay strong.”

The Miss South Africa 1994 title holder said that in less than a day, Nathi received the message, which helped him “dig deep into his resolve to face this challenge head on.”

She concluded, “That’s the measure of the man that is our captain and thank you once again Rachel. You both are one of a kind. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Blessings to your family. ♥️.”
