Amapiano pop star Tyla has officially gotten her Angel wings! The 22-year-old was announced as the headliner for the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.
According to Billboard, Cher was supposed to lead the all-women lineup on stage as the headline act. But it appears those plans fell through.
Famous Angels like Gigi Hadid and Tyra Banks will strut their stuff on the famous catwalk.
This marks the show’s first following a six-year hiatus. Previous acts included The Weeknd, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.
As per Rolling Stone, Victoria’s Secret said it chose the Grammy-winning artist for her “vibrant personality” and “innovative take on pop and R&B,” hailing her as an “integral” part of the “entertainment, glamour and fashion” of this year’s show.

In an official statement, the “Water” star said, “Growing up, I was captivated by the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show – the stunning outfits, iconic wings, and charismatic models.
“Now, I’m thrilled to be performing on this nostalgic and legendary stage. What’s even more exciting is the celebration of diversity, showcasing a broader range of beauty, which makes this moment truly special.”
Not bad for an “uppity African.” YouTuber Armon Wiggins took issue with Tyla’s speech following her MTV VMA win for Best Afrobeats artist.
“Hey I don’t think I like TYLA’s personality I think someone needs to check her because she doesn’t understand American Culture AT ALL,” he wrote on X.
“She almost gives off entitled or uppity African I don’t know how to explain it but it’s very off-putting and it’s almost like she expects people to just fall to her feet.”
Wiggins’s post drew the ire of Tyla superfans, while others laughed off the comment, calling each other “uppity Africans.”
