The discord continues over the inclusion of the 23-year-old model Chidimma Onwe Adetshina into the Miss SA Top 13 finalists.
Shortly after announcing the next batch of finalists vying for the crown, the Miss SA Organisation faced a barrage of questions from online users.
Chidimma Onwe Adetshina found herself again in the centre of an online storm due to her parentage. Many X (formerly Twitter) users claimed that she should be disqualified from the beauty pageant because of her Nigerian heritage.
Previously, the Miss SA Organisation was forced to explain why Chidimma qualified as a contestant and said she is a South African citizen with a valid South African ID.
But setting the record straight has done little to quell the discord on X and hundreds took to the social media platform to air their Afrophobic comments.
When X account @AfricaFactsZone shared Adetshina’s qualifying video, it was accused of stoking the xenophobic fires.

During an interview, Chidimma addressed the negative comments: “I am a South African citizen and I have met all the requirements to be a part of the Miss SA competition.
“The fact that my father is Nigerian does not take away from the fact that I am South African. My mother is South African, and I was born and raised in this country.”
