Cassper Nyovest’s latest song, titled Kusho Bani, has been the talk of the town as mzansi is split on how to feel about it. Joining in on the conversation, Sol Phenduka has some words of advice for Cassper and smaller artists.
Kusho Bani has caused quite a stir on social media, however, not for the best reasons. Rather, since dropping on 7 February 2025, the song has been a constant source of conflict or debate as mzansi has failed to come to a consensus regarding how to receive the song. On one hand, listeners have dubbed the song as another Cassper smash-hit, while others are failing to connect with it, citing the lack of effort into the overall product.
On his popular podcast with his infamous partner Mac G, Sol Phenduka chimed in on the conversation, declaring the song a rare miss from Cassper. In his rant, Sol argues that Cassper has missed the mark with this latest offering, claiming that he can and has done better before.
Furthermore, he addresses the new norm of producing music that will trend and go viral on social media, as opposed to releasing purely good music that mzansi can enjoy. According to Sol, South Africans are a people that appreciate the simple thing, even in music and artists such as Cassper need only to capitalise on that, as opposed to the theatrics of dance and social media challenges.

It appears that social media users agree with Sol’s sentiments, claiming that the introduction and normalisation of viral dance challenges has proven to be detrimental to our music industry as artists tend to pander to that audience, leaving music lovers and listeners wanting for more.
Sol is right…
