Multi-award-winning actor Jerry Mofokeng recently visited David Mashabela’s podcast where he shared a lot of wisdom about life, family, being a man and identity.
David’s podcast gives us an insight into the lives of mzansi’s prominent figures in the entertainment industry, politics and business.
Some of the big names who have visited King David studios include, Panyaza Lesufi, Noxolo Grootboom, Seputla Sebokeng, Duma Ndlovu, Sophie Ndaba and many more.
Visiting the podcast, one of the most profound subjects the veteran actor touched on was the importance of accepting apologies that have not been given, as well as being ok with others not acknowledging the wrongs they’ve done unto us.
He detailed, “Sometimes when you are a real man, you accept apologies that will never come. You can’t give what you ain’t got. You can not give what you don’t have. And so, a lot of people out there, they are invalids, they are cripples inside. To expect an apology from them, you’re giving yourself stress.”
“It is for your health that you forgive and that you forget because they will never come back and apologise because they don’t have it,” added the former Scandal actor.
Quoting a line from the bible he commented, “Love your neighbour as you love yourself. When they don’t love themselves, how do you expect them to love you.”
“I often say, a lot of stress is self-induced, what am I saying when saying that? You have expectations of me, two, on things I didn’t promise you as I can’t deliver that to you. So you sit there sulking because I don’t give you that, it’s not my fault. I never promised that. I don’t have it.
