Sophie Ndaba is a South African actress that has graced our screens for many years with her acting skills. The legendary actress portrayed one of the most loved bubbly characters, Queen Moroka on the SABC 1 production soapy titled Generations. The media personality is an individual that uses her social media platform to educate and inform her supporters on diabetes as she had been diagnosed with the health condition over a decade ago.
The World Health Organization (WHO) – United Nation’s agency that promotes health – defines diabetes as a chronic disease that can affect the pancreas, causing it to not produce sufficient amounts of insulin, or it may result in the body not effectively using the insulin that it produces.
News 24 shares that upon sharing her pictures and the news of her health condition, Sophie received quite a lot of bullying from social media users as she had evidently lost weight. The bullying and trolling became so gruesome that she decided to take a break from social media platforms and prioritise her mental health. The break stemmed from trying to reduce the exposure of all the bullying she had been receiving online.

Her platform has not only been useful for those that are diagnosed with diabetes, it is also dedicated to informing and spreading awareness about every aspect of diabetes to those who would like to be educated about it as a common chronic disease. Sophie has become an advocate that has taught others the quality of being passionate about sharing awareness around diabetes as her profile has played a huge role in changing the narrative for diabetes.
