Music executive, Nhlamulo Nota Baloyi finds himself embroiled in controversy after the South African Human Rights Commission launched an investigation prompted by receiving several complaints about his latest remarks.
This follows after Nota’s episode on The Hustlers Corner SA which was published on YouTube recently, where he made several statements expressing his views on white people, such as: “White people are inferior species to us.” “They have Neanderthal blood in them.” “We are dealing with the weakest whites.” “White people are just below human being,” and so on.
The commission confirmed that the Gauteng Provincial office has opened an investigation on this matter.
“The Commission also confirms receipt of several complaints against Mr Baloyi. The matter is under assessment and the Commission will determine the best way forward which may include instituting proceedings in the relevant Equality Court as per section 13(3)(b) of the South African Human Rights Commission Act 40 of 2013 (SAHRC Act), read with section 20 of the Promotion of Equality and Prevention of Unfair Discrimination Act, 2000,” read the statement issued by the commission.
The commission also reminded the public about the thin line between freedom of speech and hate speech.
“The Commission wishes to remind members of the public that the right to freedom of expression is not absolute. Hate speech and the propagation of war and imminent violence are prohibited. Podcasts are not excluded from these limitations. Podcast owners and guests are subject to the Constitution and all applicable laws.”

Nota was a guest in DJ Sbu’s podcast, where they spoke in depth about music, Kendrick Lamar’s half-time SuperBowl performance, Kanye West and politics. Nota took a turn when he spoke about his beliefs regarding the DNA profile of white people in South Africa and how that affects their interactions with Africans.
