Springbok and Stormers rugby player Juan De Jongh has officially announced his retirement from the sport.
He made the announcement in via his YouTube Podcast – Behind the Ruck.
In the most recent episode (ep.19) he spoke to former national teammate and co-presenter Rudy Paige and said that he was ready to call it a day.
“I’ve made the decision to call it and retire. This is going to be my last year, so I don’t think 2024 is going to see me.
“I have a had a long run and looking forward to enjoying the next couple of weeks.”
The 35 year old has made more than 100 appearances for the Stormers, won Currie Cups with Western Province, was part of the Blitzboks team to win Bronze at the 2016 Olympics and played 19 tests for the Springboks.
He also had a stint at English club Wasps before returning to the Mother City.
Meanwhile, Juan has revealed that he will still be having some fun and will be participating in a Tens a side rugby tournament later this year where he will represent the Wild Dogs.

Following his announcement many of his friends and fans entered the comment section to wish him well.
DHL Stormers wrote: “ Legend of the game, all the best Juba and thanks for what you did in the blue and white.”
Another user added: “Thank you for the minutes on and off the field. You have blessed us with many highlights. All of the best Juba.”
