Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus has confirmed that the team will have to do without the services of Sacha Feinberg – Mngomezulu for the rest of the Rugby Championship.
This comes after the flyhalf sustained a knee injury prior to their first test match against a century old foe, the All Blacks.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of their match against Argentina, Rassie shared how Sacha managed to keep his injury a secret, until management noticed a limp in his walk and later discovered that he was injured.
“I asked him why you limping and he said, no he injured his knee last week and I actually wanted to pull him out of the team because he was limping. That’s why you need the players to understand, you must be honest about injuries. Sacha is lucky we won both of those test matches,” he said.
The 22-year-old will now have to undergo a knee operation which will keep him out of action for the rest of the international rugby season and might see him return in time of the year end tour.
To date Sacha has been a rugby revelation that has given the country hope that the future is in good hands. Since slotting in a 50-meter penalty in his debut game against Wales, he has since cemented himself a spot in the Springbok mix.
Rassie, further revealed that he is still unaware of what the exact injury is but expects the younger number 10 to be ready between four and six weeks.
